Hello All
I have decided to stick with my MP 4,1/5.1 for a bit longer. It is a dual 6 core intel Xeon 3.33 Ghz model
It is a 2009 model that has been upgraded with better processors and flashed to 5.1 many years ago but little has been done with it since. I am currently running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 which works very well and the system is stable. I have 32GB of Ram and the system is running from a 1.05 TB SSD
A NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB graphics was fitted in 2013 which I want to replace with a 8GB Sapphire Radeon RX 590 NITRO+.
Reading through other threads I saw that I may need to update the firmware. (and maybe OS as well)
Currently running Boot ROM Version: MP51.0085.B00
I have read on this forum that I may need to update the firmware in many steps to reach 144.0.0.0.0.
In which order should I update the computer? Do I try to do all the firmware updates first? Do I need to update the OS? ( I would like to update the Mac OS as little as possible as I am using some legacy software that requires USB dongles)
I have looked at the fixit.com pages.
Many thanks for your guidance.
