According to Apple's press release:
......4.5K Retina display on the new iMac has an industry-leading anti-reflective coating for greater comfort and readability.

Does anyone know if the anti-reflective (AR) coating is the new Nano type texture coating, 3M/Belkin privacy type of covering or is it the old purple tinged coating that rubs off (Staingate) ?

I pre-ordered and 2 weeks away so I am getting antsy so I had to ask this question....

I don't think it's any one of them, it'll probably be an improved version of what they always have offered as their anti-reflective coating.

The nano glass is not a coating, but a method of nano-etching the glass itself.

I hope it's not the "sprayed-on" anti-glare coating that's used on the retina MacBook Pro's.
If so, that's a "disaster in the making" -- a serious design blunder by Apple, that's going to cost them a bundle...

I sure hope not either.

I had to live with a 2014 and 2015 MBP that had the coating rub off and make it look terrible when turned off:

Staingate at it's peak...

I had Apple replace the displays under their extended warranty and selling off the last 2015 15" MBP this weekend before the coating starts to wear off....
