Bought a set of 20 10inch bungie cords from walmart. Hooked it into my air vents. Worked like a charm!

Here is a video of it in action

Here is how it works

But how sturdy is it? When you go around sharp turns? And is this only possible with the foldable type cases?

Nothing is taking this iPad down. very sturdy. Couldn't be happier with this setup. Easy to install, doesn't shift or rotate when in use, and cheap too :)

Only works with a folding case like the official apple case.

Corrected for typos. :)

Sorry, can't help myself. Major Prius hater here. :)

Can't say I disagree but the picture doesn't show the kid car seats in the back. Told my wife the Lancer Evo is "a great family car". Didn't stick.

Wow!

Greetings from a German iPad user (WiFi 16GB) from Freiburg!

Absolutely fantastic and so easy!

Do you own a Wifi or a 3G iPad?

Maybe it will work also in other US cars...

What area in walmart did you find the bungie cord? Automotive?
Thanks for posting pics

Very creative - I bet there will be car attachments on sale soon at a much higher price, which will do the same job, but will be nowhere near as cool.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Now what you need is a bluetooth receiver to put in your line-in jack and the charger plugin on your middle storage area.

I like what you've done, but can't help but think its also all too likely to be a greater driving distraction if you are not using it for more than navigation. I'm guessing in some areas it may be illegal to have an aftermarket display like this since it is more than a GPS/navigation system.

I couldn't even justify the GPS/mapping in the Prius because all of those integrated systems feel like toys in a year or two when the updates 3rd party options are upgraded. This just helps really solidify my opinion.

Nice work! I may have to pick up a few straps myself.

These mounting solutions look great.... until you think what would happen when a loosely secured 1.5 pounds of glass and aluminum comes hurdling toward you in a car accident.

Are you not worried someone will steal it when you park the car?

Really, its the same as a GPS. Would you leave that up on the dashboard when you leave the car? They're going to take it with them or put it out of site.

Although in that regard (to the original poster): How easy is it to pull out and remove. It looks like you just pull it up and out from the straps. Is it just as easy to refasten? For day-to-day use that wouldn't be ideal but for longer trips it seems like a great idea.

What are you guys using for car chargers? Most iPod car chargers don't have then juice to charge the Ipad.
