4 Digit Passcode

Ok, first things first: This is NOT one of those "my dad died and I need his iCloud removed" threads lol...

My dad actually DID pass away, and I really just need to bypass the 4 digit lock code. I haven't restored the phone (I'm sure I could get around the activation lock via Apple with the proper paperwork) because we really want the pictures off of the phone (and no, no backup exists, just the phone).

The bummer is:I was out to visit him the summer before he died and put my fingerprint in TouchID, but of course, after 24 hours, that doesn't matter. I have no idea what the passcode might be, and all the obvious choices (to myself and brother, at least) were not it.

I still have the phone a year later, and while I'm sure I could get it wiped and unlocked (I have the receipt, death cert, and I'm his son), I really want the pictures and other notes he may have stored on the phone instead.

It's an iPhone 6, on 9.02 I believe, and it's only locked with a 4 digit (not 6 or alpha).

Any ideas beyond brute force?

What is going lately?
Answer is the same, no you cannot bypass it. If you attempt the wrong passcode too many times the phone will lock you out and it will need an itunes restore.
And no you cannot bypass icloud activation either.
Sorry about your loss, go to Apple with proof of purchase and your father's death certificate and maybe they can help you.

I am surprised with all the proof/evidence of ownership the OP has either Apple or even a high-tech iPhone repair shop wouldn't be able to help. I think four digit passcodes should be rather easy to brute force.
 
On PC I believe if you just plug it in you can access the photos from the desktop or going to the iPhone icon in File explorer.


Btw I don't believe you newbie.

First things first: I have the receipt, I have proof of death, and I am his son. This is NOT about bypassing iCloud, but thanks for all of the people who bothered to read the post first before assuming it was. I am absolutely certain I can get the phone back in service, but that is NOT the objective. We all just want the pictures/personal stuff, as he died unexpectedly. I'd give the phone, unlocked, to whomever could accomplish that...

I reached out because in the past (iOS 7 I believe) there actually was a brute force program available (it was Mac only, and I understand security has evolved, but it existed). This is not a complex or 6 digit code, so it was my hope there was a better workaround outside of trying a new code every 24 hours.

Eventually it'll work =). Until then I just keep a careful log of everything I've tried, and hope that a better solution comes up.

The much talked about case in CA involved a similar problem, and a company in Europe WAS able to do it. And that was on the latest firmware too.

My hope is that since he was on a firmware that was exploitable, maybe there would be an easier way (and the jailbreak community is usually more competent than the "I just sent my first email!" crowd in the main forum).

No worries, and if anyone knows of anything better than one try a day, I'd be extremely thankful.

Unfortunately he had never backed up the phone (doesn't appear he did so on his computer either, which we no longer have access to anyway as it was a company machine), and as such they would just wipe it and unlock it. Not ideal given what we want, but I was surprised at how willing they were given all the scams out there over iCloud activation lock. Turns out, if you can prove it, they will definitely (at least) get the phone working again. The data? Well that's the problem...

You need to realize that topics requesting iCloud bypass are an almost daily occurrence here and frankly, it's gotten beyond annoying. If you are telling the truth, then good luck.
But I would keep trying to contact Apple regarding the photographs, because no one here will be able to help you. Anyone who says otherwise is probably scamming you in one way or another.

But I do get that, which is why I literally went out of my way to say this is NOT about bypassing iCloud activation in the FIRST sentence of my original post.

And even though it may be difficult to do, it CAN be done. It has been done in the past, it will be done (by me!) in the future (it's just a matter of if a better method comes along before I brute force it... I admit slowly...).

Anyway, if anyone knows of a program to bypass the 4 digit lock code faster (or even re-enable TouchID after 24 hours has locked it out, because my fingerprint IS in the phone) via a program similar to the one that brute forced iOS 7, I would make it well worth their effort =).

I'm not too worried about "being scammed", as the pictures would have to be recovered first before I'd give out any money (or the phone). Once I get what I want, I'd be happy to get the phone restored and unlocked via Apple (they have already offered to do that) and give the phone to whomever solves the issue. The phone contains pictures of my dads last vacation, which happened to be with his two best friends in the world (a month before he died), so they are essentially priceless to them. Moral of the story, as always: back up your stuff (and do so to a non-encrypted source if you plan on dying unexpectedly I guess).

The method does seem to be beyond everyone who has responded so far, but in fairness: thus far not many responders have even bothered to read the post. So I don't know that "no one here can help", only that "so far, you have encountered a lot of hasty responses, especially from people that lack the knowledge you seek". It CAN be done, but I haven't found the person that can help do it yet.

Didn't you see how much of an issue and effort it was for the government to get into an iPhone not that long ago? Seems like for regular folks out there it's not really something that is in the "realistic" realm. And might not be even for governments given that this is a different phone that the somewhat simpler one that was unlocked after much effort and money and who knows what else.
