Long story short.
I purchased my iMac 20" G5 two and half years ago and had no problems with it until the last 45 days.
In January I had a problem with a stuck row of pixels and purple hueing. I could make it go away with a reboot. So it was something graphics related (at least what I thought).
Trip to apple store 1 - Jan 28: They replaced the LCD screen ( on replacement cracked the bezel, I complained then)
Trip to apple store 2 - Feb 3: Still had issue, replaced cable ribbon from display to LCD and fixed said cracked bezel.
Trip to apple store 3 - Feb 8: Still was having issue, replaced logic board.

Finally when I thought it was all fixed and I had time to start doing some graphics work....I have a row of stuck pixels. So I called in and now they are replacing it with 21.5" display.

So after $1100 worth of repairs (according to their receipts) and then the replacement of a $1200 computer, I guess I am glad I got AppleCare.
I just wanted to share my experience and that warm and fuzzy factor of owning applecare.

I guess I am happy they stood by the product, sure a big inconvenience with a lot of time.

Now lets hope the 21.5" makes it.:)

They just replace your 2 and a half years old computer with a new 21.5 inch imac for free?

Wow, that is good to hear.

That's great!
More often than not, Apple seems to come through on customer care. I hear people are still getting water cooled G5 PowerMacs repairs far out of warranty for free.

It was great to find them sticking to their apple care agreement. It's great for a company to follow through.

Generally, after 3 major hardware repairs, they will replace it with a new machine.

My 20" Intel iMac (the original) borked, and it was replaced with a 24" 2.66GHz iMac.

Get Apple care of the 21.5" one, especially with all those issues 27" one had, and the usual sad crappy quality these days better be safe, lets hope it last you a lot!

And whoever says Apple Service sucks can bite me, this is by far the best example of Apple's customer service.

They replaced a 2 1/2 Mac for a newer model, good luck to the OP on such a sweet replacement
