In regard to the 4850 imacs would you say these reported issues of locking up are significant enough to halt your trigger finger?
I am mildly perturbed by the reports but it's not a big enough issue to stop me purchasing on its own,(that may change if it turns out to be more major).
I have counted up users here who have reported this issue and taking in to consideration both the 'freezing thread' and the 'freezing poll' it numbers 19 users. Which is probably not a significant number considering the amount of traffic/users here.

Personally I have been holding on for barefeats speed testing before ordering, still am...
Apple would serve itself well to get this imac delivered, as i would imagine quite a number of people are waiting on these results.

I'm feeling relieved now that my iMac with the 4850 arrived yesterday.... still keeping my fingers crossed, but so far so good... no, make that GREAT! I used it pretty heavily last night and didn't encounter any problems.

can you provide a link where it says that 10.5.7 will fix this?

I said should, so it's not 100% that it'll. I'm sorry if I was too sure about that but it's 90% sure that it's just driver problem. If drivers can't fix it, it's ATIs fault.

why is it ati's fault? apple is the one who's putting the systems together...

It's GPU problem. Other models haven't froze like this. 10.5.7 should fix this problem

Don't think I can wait that long - Apple will only replace with a new one in the first 14 days - after that it is a repair job.

If I get a replacement I should be able to keep this one until the new one arrives - otherwise I have no desktop!
