Hi everyone,

I noticed something weird happened today, I received a phone call today at 3.14pm and talked for 6 minutes, I did not touch the phone prior to the phone call. Later I checked the data usage on provider's website after getting a text message from the provider saying my data nearly run out. The website states that I have used 48mb at 3.14pm. Even after the phone call, I made a couple more calls and used iMessage (words only, no pictures). The phone had been connected to wifi as I was home.

Could anyone explain what the heck happened?

Given that you have low data allowance in your plan, next time you could turn off mobile data while you are at home and turn back on when you need mobile data.
But sometimes iPhone do use mobile data for some sort of transmission. For which purpose is not sure though.

Have you looked on your phone in settings to see what could have used the data?

Wifi assist only used 6mb, I have turned it off now. But I doubt it is that. I've reset the stats and wait a couple more days until my plan renew again, then I plan to monitor it carefully to see where the data leak is.

You should be able to see what's been using the data in settings.

I don't know enough about this, but is it possible some networks charge for data used during VoLTE calls? Does your network support VoLTE? In any case, 6 minute call would not explain that much data.

Well if you read it, it says it doesn't download things in background, doesn't do this and that
doubt it would use 48MB in a small period like that
We are clearly talking about a bug here. You don't think Wifi Assist could have had a bug? It was simply a suggestion, albeit not the correct one for the OP in this situation.

One thing i have noticed is that certain apps i disabled mobile data for still use mobile data sometimes. Toggling the setting back and forth fixes it
