I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this (I am debating weather or not to use my phone support, i did not get the extended support). Sometimes when I am playing my iPod, it will be in the middle of a somng and just shutdown and restart. I have had a few times when this has happened and the iPod restarted multiple times. When it finaly does come back online, the battery indicator shows next to 0, but after a while it is fine again. I have noticed this slightly more when I am using iTrip, but not exponentialy so. Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm new to this forum just saw your post about a restarting 4G iPod.
I'm currently having exactly the same issue as you with my less than 8 month old iPod, plus the added bonus of my menu and/or play buttons becoming non responsive and to top that, sometimes it just hangs with the display still active and backlight remaining lit - two finger salute is the only resolution.

Everyone I know who has a 4G iPod (and I know quite a few people with them, Graphic design students you know) say they've had very little to no issues with theirs. It really sucks to be the one to get a lemon...

Well I've already sent the little problematic bugger off to Apple :( , But if anyone else has issues, would be curious to hear your "horror stories".

I have had that happen a lot as well. Not only that, but the skip protection seems to get worse and worse. However, knowing that an iPod uses built-in memory for skip protection, how does anti-skip get worse on a player where non-moving parts (the memory) are responsible for supplying the anti-skip?

Now that I think about it, I may call Apple about my iPod as well.

Last week, mine started randomly stopping and skipping iTMS songs

I eventually came to the conclusion that restoring it was the best solution (and if that didn't solve it) to take it back to Apple. So far (fingers crossed) it seems to have resolved the issue; we're still playing today and I'm hearing my purchased music.
