4GB USB key OK for InstallESD.dmg?

Basically, is a 4GB USB key big enough to create a bootable USB key with ML's InstallESD.dmg?

the app is over 4 gig and the install dmg expands to over 4 gig

No. You will need a dual layer DVD.
