So I finally upgraded my 2002 30" Cinema Display as it was dead.

Bought a Gigabyte M32UC which is their curved variant of the 32" 4k 144hz displays, however it's proving a headache to setup.

Over HDMI I only get 1280x1024 which looks awfully stretched, plus it's only detecting 60/75hz. So I thought no problem it has USB C connectivity I'll plug in a premium USB C cable, nothing.. my MacBook screen just flashes on and off like crazy even though it's showing up in the display preferences on Mac OS.

Thought it might have been a bandwidth issue so I made an hour long trip to my Apple store for a 40gbps thunderbolt 3 cable (0.8m) and what would you know? Still does it!

The display shows up in display preferences with the full 3840 x 2160, but nothing happens and it appears to be connecting/disconnecting real quick in a loop, flashing my MacBook display on and off. This only happens with the USB C slot though.

My MacBook Pro is a 2019 Intel i9880, 32GB memory and the Radeon Pro 560X graphics. I have read others on various forums running this without a hitch. I'm also running the latest copy of Mac OS Monterey.

Pleaseee can somebody offer any advise? I've had almost a full day of lost working hours because of this :(
