My new Canon has the capability to shoot in HD or 4K. But should I use this over my Canon Camcorder for video? The Camcorder has more features and seems better suited for the task of video. A question. Do you use your camera for video, or do you use a camcorder for video? If you use a snapshot camera for video what do you shoot? Thanks..

The best answer is:
Try them all, and see which pleases your eyes the most.

Be aware that 4k video requires A LOT of computing horsepower to edit.
Best solution for 4k on the Mac is to use Final Cut Pro's "create proxy media" option. It uses the "proxy media" while editing, but when you export, the finished video is created in full 4k.

Thank you. I have a camcorder and still shot camera and both can do some pretty sharp video. But you are right I probably don’t want to edit 4K video. I lack Final Cut Pro just have iMovie.

It really won't matter on a sensor so small one your camera. Stick to HD.

I remember the days of VHS-C, and mini DV tapes. Not that long ago I had one of these camcorders.
