I update my 4S to iOS 7 same day Evasi0n7. I did a DFU restore and installed 7.0.4. I didn't use a back up and set up as new. Now does anyone else with a 4S notice that the battery life just isn't as good at iOS 6? How about that the phone runs a little warmer too? It's not horribly worse but a little worse.

Before I would get 30 min before it going down to 99%. I would get 1hr 15min at 90%. Now it's 15min and 50min. I have everything turned off.

Perhaps this is something I have to live with?

Thanks.

I lost 5% just typing this up. Weird.

Perhaps move this to the iOS 7 forum. I'm no longer jail broken. No apps installed either.

An hour of usage is down to 77%. That's terrible. Usually in would be at 92%

I'm going to have to use a case since it's getting to hot too hold.

restore and setup as new

I did this, than jailbroke my 4S on iOS 7... Battery life is worse than before the restore and Set up as new + jailbrake

This morning went from 100% to 96% on like 15 minutes wifi surf

Clueless...

restore and setup as new

Three times I have done this. iOS 7 is supposed to be more demanding than iOS 6 right?

DFU restores and set up as new. It's weird how the 5 doesn't seen to have the type of battery issues like the 4S has.

Thinking about takin it to an apple store just to see what they say about it.

I guess you saved me from doing another Set up as new...

I wonder if Reset network settings should do any good

You can try turning off location services if they're on.

Everything is off except Maps, Google Maps, Google Earth, Facebook, Foursquare and Navigon.
In System Services everything is off except Compass Calibration.

And 80% of the time these applications are not even opened

@OP

Not sure if this helps but if you do not want to completely turn off location services i suggest you go to

Settings -> Privacy -> location services -> go to the very bottom -> System services -> Frequent Locations -> Turn this Off.

I saw that my location symbol on status bar was coming very frequently and thats when i noticed this service being on. So turned it off as i don't need it.

I had all the system services off.

Well I got to 60% and got 2hr 14min. On iOS 6 I would get 3hrs of usage at the same point.

I don't have email set up at all. All I have is icloud contacts on.

I have a couple of 4s (mine and wife's) that are only in minimal use after upgrading to non-Apple phones for this iteration of cellular device upgrade. But, we both still use our old phones because of many apps not on android, unfortunately. Especially me because I use the iphone for a lot of photos. The fact is, the iPhone 4s takes better photos than the Note 3, but I wanted a better all-around PDA and was willing to give up a hip camera because I usually have a DSLR when it matters anyway. But invariably, I still use the 4s for camera stuff. It is currently JBed on a previous version. Just trying to decided if I want to bother with a JB at this point. Tethering was one reason to JB. Also, lots of gestures for control. Tap to unlock. No lock screen at all when I am using it a bunch, etc. It all works fine now. If I upgrade and JB, I am looking at LOTS of work to configure.

Point of post?
1...monitoring your challenge.
2. Feedback. Why JB an infrequently used device at this point. I don't like the look of 7. I have a iP4 on 7 and it sucks. Would I gain that much? Maybe I should just up the old iPhone 4s to 7 and not worry about JB since I can't really use tethering. And some of the toggles are now built in that needed a JB.

Anyway, just wanted to see what others with 4s and maybe even those not even using their iphone as their phone are doing. Also to complicated the issue is my wife's iPad 3. It is currently JB on older system...but probably doesn't need it JB anymore anyway. With the JB coming further and further apart, it is getting more frustrating to depend on. Which is part of the reason I skipped the 4s to 5s upgrade this go around. May switch back every other generation.

Thanks!!

It seems to run ok on my old 4s. The battery life is a little worse, but it's a 2+ year old phone now. I kind of expect it to have poor battery life.

If your phone is actually getting warm though, there is probably something happening in the background that is using a lot of battery. Do you have Background App refresh enabled?

I'm having the same issue with my 5. I was running 7.0.2 up until a few days ago and battery life had been excellent. Since upgrading to 7.0.4, my battery life has been terrible, dropping down to 75% within an hour even after turning off location services, LTE and dimming the screen brightness, which I didn't have to do on previous versions. I don't even want to think about what it's going to look like when I get home where I have LTE service again. I really wish Apple would allow us to downgrade, at least within the same iOS version.
