Will I be able to run a 4TB SATA drive in one of the four bays in a 4,1?
I'm in need to upgrade my TM and would rather keep it internal for speed purposes.

Yes, you can. However, you better get a known good HDD, it seems not all 4T HDD has the old standard screw hold. I am now running a WD red 4T and a WD red 6T internally without any problem.

^^^^What H9826790 is speaking about is depicted in the attached pict, #1. The common mounting hole form form factor is the drive on the right, the non standard ones are the two on the left. I thought this just affected 6TB models, but I could be wrong.

The HGST drive you referenced seems to be OK. Pict #2.

^^^^Yes it does, it shows the inside of the HGST HDD you referenced. It also shows the mounting screw holes. I thought you might be interested, since it means it will fit in your machine.

I got a Seagate 8TB drive for my wife's Mac Pro 3,1 & discovered the screw hole problems with the drive sled. Two screw holes matched up so I used those plus some gaffer tape to hold the whole drive securely.

It looks like it shows the screw holes for attaching the top cover to the disk. The drive mounting holes are on the bottom of the disk, not the top. (Note that the "top" two holes aren't even on the edge of the disk..)
