Hi,

I have a Mac Pro with an 4TB OWC Accelsior 4M2 PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD Adapter Card.
The card is setup as a Raid and formatted to APFS.

The card seems to be working well. However I've just noticed that although the files on the drive only total around 400GB, it shows that I only have 1.3TB of capacity left available. I have emptied the trash, but am still left with same puzzling figure.

I've run Disk Inventory X which confirms that I only have 1.3TB free. I don't understand where the missing 2TB is!

Any ideas would be appreciated!

My error, confusing RAID's.

Raid 0 on a 4tb drive will be two 2tb drives. It should show up as one 4tb drive. Or in your case one 3.8tb drive.

Something is wrong.

It might have been formated wrong.

Are there two drives each of 2tb on the card?

It's RAID 0 (look it up) to maximise performance, so maximum capacity is 2TB.
You might need to do a bit more research, RAID0 combines the disks to create a single volume, hence 4TB (less formatting, etc.), not 2TB.

If it’s definitely in RAID0, sounds like you should try moving everything off it and reformat to see if that clears things up.

You can only store 2TB on a 4TB RAID 0 array. You get half the capacity but twice the performance. If you reformat as a standard (non-RAID) drive you get the full 4TB back but half the performance of the RAID 0 array.

You are mistaken. Google it. I work with RAID 0 in my work. As it is the fastest for camera offloading for my DIT on my shoots.
