So far any problems I have had are not fixed in 5.0.1 including but not limited to horrible 3g buzzing/crackling coming from either a speaker or microchip, weird volume issues so that lock sounds is extremely loud after using siri. I really hope this fixes battery but so far seems same.

If you look at the release notes, it wasn't designed to address the issues you mention

It was designed specifically for battery issues

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Also, I'm not having the issues u mentioned (did have the battery issue...fingers crossed this fixes it).

You might have a defective iPhone. It is a material object made by humans...it could happen.

Anyone else have the OP problems?

I have held off updating my VZ iPhone 4 to iOS 5 due to all the issues that have been previously posted on MacRumors. I had hoped 5.0.1 would address some of those, but realistically, I imagine it will take Apple awhile (several months) to fix them all. So, I will just be patient and wait....

Just updated two iphone 3GS phones. Had previously switched off "setting time zone" on one phone since the arrow indicator regularly showed this to have been used in last 24 hours though was never constantly on.

Now that I've updated to 5.0.1, I switched on "setting time zone" only to find the arrow indicator remains purple and setting time zone appears to be continuously on! This is the case for both the 3GS phones I've updated so not looking like an improvement so far.

Sounds more like you dropped it and expect Apple to fix "idiocy" with software updates.

That's a pretty stupid excuse. iOS 5 works just fine. You have the few people who spout off about issues that only they're having, or because their battery life goes down when they watch an entire season of Gossip Girl in one sitting.

But by all means. If you want to listen to the annoying few who spout off about non-issues that you'll likely never notice or experience, go ahead and wait. I'm sure they'll get it all sorted by the time iOS 7.0 comes out.
