Hello all,

I've got a somewhat strange issue:
When the computer is off and I switch it on: everything seems to be working ok.
When the computer goes to sleep mode ... and it awakes -> everything is ok so far.
but:
When I do reboot the system: the HDD in drive bay 4 disappeaers (in the system)... it's vitually gone. No matter how often I try to reboot: it never comes back.
However: when I shut the system down completely... and switch it on again: the HDD is back immediately; always on the first try.
My computer is a 5.1(flashed 4.1) and the drive in question is a WD gold 6TB.

Any idea what that issue is ... and how to fix it?

just tried:
- tape/cover power pin3
- trimforce disable

both seems to have little effect on the not appearing drive.

The tape pin fix didn't work well for me with HGST. Ended up moving the drive to an external housing and have removed all spinning HDDs from the 5,1. System runs cooler and very quiet ever since.

The most noisy part (by far!) of my MacPro is the Highpoint M.2 card. So I can hardly recognise anything emitted by the HDD.
As I'm relying on SSD based Raid-0's otherwise ... I just wanted an internal TimeMachine-HDD -> for the "ease of mind".

Well, at least it's good to know that none of the hardware is defective.
It's just a "minor" incompatibility...

Did you tried to install your troublesome HDD on ODD bay 2? I had a HGST 6TB HDD that only worked there.
Now I’m using 4 5TB Seagate Barracudas, no problem with them.
