5.1 b1 "Unable to Check For Update"

Hey guys,

Just restored to 5.1 b1 the other day and was fooling around the other day and went to check the software upgrade section for kicks and it said "Unable To Check For Update". Anyone have this problem?? And if you do/did, are there any solutions you know of?

I don't really know what you're answer is trying to say, but I thought you could update beta to beta OTA? Maybe it'll only work when there's a new beta to update to?

A beta is not a stable release and can have various parts that don't operate as expected.

Well obviously, but I couldn't really get that from his one word answer of Beta!. I was trying to see if anyone else had that problem...

If you install a Beta then you should be aware that things may or may not work as they should - this is why it's only released to registered developers (of which you are of course).

What difference does it make if anyone else has that issue or not? Is there a beta 2 to install (you would know as a registered developer would have access to it via the developer portal). If there isn't the why even bother trying to check for an update?

As a registered developer have you reported this to Apple yet? If this problem persists in the release version i'ma be pissed at you for not reporting it!

I fully understand the risks of updating to beta software... and what difference does it make if there isn't one available? People open their email app without having new emails, right? Just trying to see if it is an isolated issue...

B) Use a test device ONLY to use the beta iOS versions.
C) Actually develop apps, not just wanting "the latest release" of iOS ahead of the public.
D) Submit all bugs and issues to Apple directly, not MacRumors.

Did you even read the Developer agreement?

I get the same error. In the iOS 5 betas you were able to use OTA updates later on.

The beta update servers are probably not active yet. When the next OTA update comes, it will work!

It's people like you who cause issues to the developer program. You're not suppose to install beta software on everyday use devices, and you should only be a member if you develop software.

E) No, but the NDA you "signed" when registering as a developer is pretty much the Dev Police.

Really it dumbfounds me how many people actually don't read ANYTHING it says in the Apple Developer Portal.

I have the same issue. I don't see why people feel the need to be so secretive about betas. 5 minutes after it's released everyone will know what's in it.
