Trying to weigh up my 'next Mac' options.
Reading the extract below from the Mini/Studio comparison, what is the memory bandwidth of the 5.1 cMP...?

The ‌Mac mini‌'s memory bandwidth maxes out at 200GB/s memory bandwidth. The ‌Mac Studio‌, on the other hand, offers up to 400GB/s or 800GB/s memory bandwidth.

I am wondering how it compares to these much newer AS machines.

The original Mac Pros which used FB-DIMMs, so 1,1 through 3,1, were in the area of around 16GB/sec. I don't think the 4,1 or 5,1 was significantly faster.

Nehalem and Westmere Xeons memory bandwidth is limited by the QPI link, 25.6GB/s:

When Intel made the move to an on-die memory controller it needed a high speed interconnect between chips, thus the Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) was born. I’m not sure whether or not QPI or Hyper Transport is a better name for this.

Each QPI link is bi-directional supporting 6.4 GT/s per link. Each link is 2-bytes wide so you get 12.8GB/s of bandwidth per link in each direction, for a total of 25.6GB/s of bandwidth on a single QPI link.

Bear in mind that memory bandwidth is much more necessary for GPUs than CPUs. ASi essentially has graphics card style RAM.

Thanks all....👍
I knew any AS Mac kicks my 5.1 up the bum in general performance, just wondered what the value was, especially compared to 800GB/s for the Ultra.
It does give me a reality check on how old my cMP is......😳

edit: oops meant GB/s
