Hi all,

I've recently installed my ATI 5870 card from a 1,1 Mac Pro to a - almost brand new - 5,1 Mac Pro (the one in sign). Everything works well but I often see artifacts on screen (glitches, thin black rows parallel to the lower late of finder's windows, etc etc...).

After a two week monitoring: Finder it's the only app that seems affected (games and other apps runs smoothly), artifacts are more frequent the first hour after the boot than I almost have no artifacts at all, some times a log off / log in seems to fix the issue.
I have artifacts with - all up to date - 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9 too

I had no artifacts at all with the 1,1 MacPro; no artifacts with a GeForce GT 120 installed on the same 5,1 MacPro; actually I have both the 5870 an the GT120 installed on the 5,1 Mac Pro (5870 connected to a 23" Cinema Display, GT120 connected to a Dell U2312HM and I got artifacts.

Any idea?

Seems that GT120 causes artifacts, not the 5870. Remove it and connect both displays to ATI card.

Just removed the GeForce GT 120 and artifact are gone.

Before I forgot to tell you that the artifacts appeared only in the monitor connected to the 5870. Now everything works .. but how is it possible that the presence of a second video cards creates artifacts visible on a monitor connected to the other card?:confused::confused:

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

@ 4dtough: Both cards are working good if installed alone so I don't think any of them is damaged.
