5,1 update dilemma. Update to High Sierra or Mojave?

So I'm currently running Mac OS Sierra and I'm wondering what's the best OS to choose based on performance and stability.

Anyone here encounter any issues with either OS with a 5,1?

Also, I have a time machine backup that I just created under Sierra. If I decide to update to High Sierra/Mojave, I will have to update my firmware. So, if I decide to go back to Sierra via Time machine, will this firmware update cause any issues reverting my computer back to Sierra?

This depends on a number of things.
1. Does all your software work with Mojave.
2. Do you have a suitable gpu for Mojave.

I have both installed on my machine (Mojave install to update to the latest fw), but using High Sierra.
 
Mojave has been one of the most solid OSes in recent macOS history.
If all of your software runs in Mojave, which is quite likely, then definitely go Mojave.

1. Actually, im not sure. There's a few old games I play from time to time and I have no idea how to check their compatibility (command and conquer generals)
2. My MP came with a radeon 5870, but I'm currently using a rx 580 from sapphire

Interesting. So if I were to restore my mac using time machine from high sierra to a sierra backup, there'd be no problems?

Is there a tool out there that can test compatibility for applications?
