5,1 w GTX680 no audio over DP

I've tried hooking my Dell 3415W to my CMP 5,1 and I am not getting any audio over the DP, is that normal? I've done a search and there seem to be quite a few issues and I'm not sure which apply.

In the scheme of things, is this a hard thing to do, I'm still pretty wet behind the ears.
