As you can see, the thing is called Icy Dock ExpressCage MB324SP-B, and it is a great way to add more HDD/SSDs to your Mac Pro. You need this, 4 x SATA Controller, and 4 long 1m SATA cables.

My Dock is connected to RAID controller from the link below and everything works as expected:

Fan is quiet, there are 3 speed options or you can disconnect it like I did ( SSDs )

Controller is bootable in OS X and Windows. In OS X controller is recognized as Generic AHCI controller and as far as i know there is no Marvel util or web management for RAID. So in OS X disk are in JBOD or RAID 0/1.

Thanks for sharing. This seems like a much better option than an Apricorn card or any other method of adding bootable SATA 3 drives.

These are good cages. I use them since a few years when building MPs. Reliable ones.
For more demanding users there's 8 bay one as well. Combine this with Areca or Atto card + 8 1TB SSDs and you'll get a pretty fast 4K editing array.
