Hmm what a dumb thing to do, i'll be at my home comfortable with some coffee and have it at my door step in the morning

Uhh yeah...There weren't reservations for Jordans. If you have a reservation there, you get one if you show up between 9AM and 3PM.

with reservations as well as at home release day delivery on pre-orders, I think you are overestimating the launch madness just a tad. Any comparison on other launches is moot due to the availability of pre-ordering. Just my thoughts though and I am no analyst so don't cast me into the fire if I am wrong

Well, even with Snow Leopard there were midnight launch parties.. Apple fanbois will use every event they can to get in line... There is a tiny little Brit in all of them

I love the DMP, I guess the "Flight Club" in your username explains your love for sneakers!
I can see an overnighter, for the communal experience, but 5 days of my life is too much to devote to yet another consumer gadget that will probably eat my life away if and when I get one. People need to find other interests, really.
Since it's raining here in NYC until Wednesday, they probably won't be camping out at the Fifth Ave store until then (if there are actually any campers).

Back in 2007 at the first iPhone launch we got a special bag and then again at the launch of the 3G in 2008. I didn't get there as early as usual last year so don't know if there were a special bag for the 3GS. I'm guessing that we'll get a special bag for the iPad, though..... I've still got both mine. The one for the first iPhone is black, with a photo of the iPhone on it. The one for the 3G is white, and again there is a photo of the iPhone, with the words "iPhone 3G" on each side of the bag, with the Apple logo.
Apple did say there would be a 'special gift' for people picking up in store right?

I'm going up to White Plains iPad shirt? Man, I wish I wasn't going to be enjoying my couch awaiting my iPad's delivery on saturday morning and could brave the lines and awkward stares so I could get the too-small shirt.
Seriously though, if the shirt isn't truely KICK ASS, I don't regret missing it. The only thing that would be a total SHOCK would be iTunes gift cards (like $10). I'd be annoyed if in-store pick-ups got free, non-shirt, stuff.
