Hi all, 5 things really, I'd appreciate any help:

Firstly, I understand that iTunes backs up all the SMS, call logs and Notes everytime you sync... if I did a full software reset and started from scratch, would I be able to transfer all that data back onto my iPhone? I'm particularly interested in the SMS messages.

2, Is there an SMS download program for the PC? Everyone keeps talking about the one for Macs, but since PCs occupy quite a huge proportion of people you would have thought someone would make one for Windows? Am I missing it?

3, Bearing in mind I have a OTB UK 1.1.2 iPhone that I jailbroke and am using via TurboSIM... will a full system restore work and let me re-jailbreak it?

4, the reason I'm asking all these questions is this. Basically I've been using it with TurboSIM for a month with NO problems at all. Now lately it's been saying No SIM inserted. I'd do a soft reset, and it'll show up as T-Mobile intermitedly for a few minutes, then come up with the same 'No SIM' message. Has anyone run into this problem before? I don't think it's a problem with the TurboSIM, so I've requested a new T-Mobile sim to try out, maybe that will fix it. Has anyone had similar problems?

Finally, I'd ideally like to take my iPhone to a genius bar for them to have a look at it... is this possible given that I've jailbroken it... and erm... cut up the O2 sim card!?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Cheers

itunes backs up everything every time you sync. that includes all sms, prefs, call history, browser history, etc. when you plug the iphone back in after restore it will ask you if you want to restore from backup or set it up new, pick 'from backup'.

Thanks for your response. So does that mean if I do a FULL restore/reset... plug my jailbroken phone into iTunes... I can restore all the backed up data SMS/notes etc... even though it's been fully reset?

Can anyone else help with my other questions?

yup

as for the turboSIM problem. I just killed a nextSIM by bending it when removing the SIM tray from the iPhone. Now it says no SIM all the time. I've never seen intermittent problems.

whyd you cut up the O2 sim card? i thought you only had to cut the alternate sim card. anyway, your warranty is not dependant on activation with apple's partners, even though sometimes a genius might try to tell you it is.

Stupidly I thought I had to cut up the O2 sim card to get it to fit with my TurboSIM so that I could run the Applesaft program!

Problem is, I can't really take my jailbroken iPhone with my T-Mobile sim to a genius bar can I??

Also can someone help with my other two questions?

bumping a thread is considered quite rude because it pushes other people's threads down the list.

I dont know anything about pc SMS backup software. Why do you need to back it up; I already mentioned that iTunes backs all that stuff up.

Yes if you restore your 1.1.2 OTB iPhone you will be able to go through the jailbreaking process again from the start. Just be careful if you have to remove and reinsert that turbosim; they're fragile if bent.
