I have this 20" iMac C2D machine which is wonderful, I however wonder how noisy your hard drives are. Compared to the drive (a 400 GB one) in my iMac 20" G5 2.0 it is a rather noisy one. Feels like it is ticking to the casing when writing.

Anybody got some other experiences with their 500 GB drives? Should I return it?

I'd be interested in any replies you get.
I've just bought an Intel iMac with 20"screen, 250gb hard drive and the hard drive kind of gurgles when I ask it to do something. I'm told it's normal but I was kind of expecting complete silence. I still love it though.

I only hear a typical grind when I first log into OS X.

what Eidorian said. startup grind then dead calm. mine is a 250Gig

The superdrive makes more noise but sttill only noticeable because the fan is so dead quiet! Makes the Dell sound like a jet turbine!:apple:
