50D Raw question

i have cs3 and i have been shooting in raw recently but when i put the files in photoshop it won't let me open them... any ideas. the format is .cr2 but the thing is that i can open raws that are the same format that i had taken with my rebel. any ideas?

What version of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) are you using? It looks like you need to be on 4.6 for 50D support: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402444&sliceId=2. The latest version of ACR is 5.3, but that only works with CS4.

You don't open the disk image file with Photoshop, you open it with finder and copy the plug-in file it contains to your Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats folder as instructed in the linked document.

Updating Photoshop CS3 ACR Plugin

open finder > mac HD > Apps > PS CS3 folder, open it and there is a plugin folder within

Have you tried converting the CR2 files to DNG? Something like Canon DPP works fine for that.
