i have cs3 and i have been shooting in raw recently but when i put the files in photoshop it won't let me open them... any ideas. the format is .cr2 but the thing is that i can open raws that are the same format that i had taken with my rebel. any ideas?

i downloaded the update but when i try to get photoshop to open it it says it doesn't recognize the file format

You don't open the disk image file with Photoshop, you open it with finder and copy the plug-in file it contains to your Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats folder as instructed in the linked document.

Have you tried converting the CR2 files to DNG? Something like Canon DPP works fine for that.
