512mb v-ram graphics card in NEW imac?

hi- big apple fan- ive been folowing the imac threads since january,
now that there is significant articles, and rumors for an updated imac April 29

what is the likely hood for a 512mb vram card in the imac. a BTO in the higher end models. just like when they updated the mbp to penryn in Feb?

No one knows. end of.

Recent rumors suggest just HDD and slight speed bump, but they are just rumors.

However a thing that always gets me to "sigh..." is people thinking the VRAM is really what matters. To keep the iMac's current GPU and just up the VRAM to 512 would be utterly pointless and of no real benefit to anyone. We need a new GPU like a Geforce 8600m or an ATI 3xxx series. Having one of them at 256Mb, hell even at 128mb (I'm not saying that would happen) would far outperform the current GPU with 512mb VRAM.
Size of VRAM is really not significant compared to the actual graphics chipset. Sure it makes a difference, but no where near as much as other things like pipelines, core clock, fill rates etc etc. emphasis on VRAM is basically a kinda con by graphics card companies as they can add it relatively cheaply and get people thinking it makes a huge difference. A little bit like the Mhz myth, though thats not an not entirely accurate analogy.
