56k Modem Connection

My mother owns an iMac (purchased last year). She's trying to connect to the Internet using a 56k modem. Any suggestions?
 
Are you asking for suggestions as to which provider or recommendations for hardware?
 
The first thing she going to need is a friend with a broadband connection to download and burn system updates....
