Hello guys,

I've discovered this thing https://5daydeal.com/ref/NikonRumors/ and I wonder if its really worth the price tag or if its one of those marketing tricks that make it look like a super saving deal but then you don't really get any value back. Anyone knows anything about it? Or knows what the tutorials are actually?

I'm usually very sceptical about these things and so far I've purchased "understanding exposure" as the only book which covers pretty much most of the stuff.

Anyone knows more, please?

Depends on your needs as to whether it's 'worth' it or not. I've purchased it before and whilst I never really used all the material, I never felt I was being cheated in anyway.

I've also purchased it in the past and found it to be good value for money really, with many tutorials that came in handy for landscapes and architectural photography. I haven't checked out this years to see what is in the package, but I guess it all depends on what aspects of photography you enjoy and what is on offer this time round as a part of the package.

If you are hesitant, check out some of the videos on youtube.

Just watching this weeks RAW talk now. I agree a lot of what he says is BS, but I do find some of the humour up my street.
Oh, he's humorous at times and he's done a great job with his brand, but he's not a great photographer and he's terrible at retouching. Adam Lerner is a better photographer, but still not that great. He's also better at editing and explaining his editing process than Jarred, but for learning photography and associated skills they're both pretty useless.

Agree. It's just three mates taking the pee out of each other which is loosely photography based. Reminds me of top gear but about camera not cars.

Why would you waste your time on the bolded above?

Everything we watch or read is basically someone opinion (subjective). I like watching Jared because he will test a lot of Nikkor lenses. He will shoot mostly either subjects that I'm interested in (i.e. concerts) or any thing might find that interest me down the road. He uses Lightroom when editing (me too). When I'm watching, its more to see what he will do to adjust. Same with Adam. He goes into the Nikon menu and shows how to set your camera with other iOS devices. I don't own a pro camera, he does. So I might try to apply those settings or something similar when those options aren't available.

I read a lot of blogs too but the OP asked for videos. There is always something to learn from any of them. When you start watching those that I listed on youtube, more videos of the same subject will be added to your home page.

Okay here is more since you two didn't agree. This is for the Freida. :)

You can start by picking a subject to shoot. Each month/week try to learn something new. The holidays are excellent in finding what to shoot. Next holiday is Halloween, then Thanksgiving. On the Canon Learning center you can learn photography tips.

Thank you guys for the input. In the end I didn't purchase that as I decided to maybe find the resources for free on youtube etc. Also, you guys offered alternatives to check so I thought I will be ok.
For now, I'm into portraits and lights but I think I'll go to more topics a bit later. One thing at a time :)))
Thank you all :)

Portraits you say? :D

Well you can definitely avoid the two debated above and check out these fine folks (in no particular order), they all have a good internet presence:

Joel Grimes
Lindsay Adler
Karl Taylor
Joe Edelman
Zack Arias
Sue Bryca
Jeff Rojas
Glyn Dewis
Gavin Hoey
Matt Granger

That should keep you busy for a while. ;)

Also check out YuriFineArt (his accent is a little tough at times but stick with it)

Also Sergei Ramelli does some good tutorials.
[doublepost=1477394153][/doublepost]My view on this is that if the deal is worth it, then they wouldn't have to offer fire sale prices.
