Does Anyone actually sign up for a data plan for the iPads ? This is my first time getting the cellular version so I’m tempted to activate the 5g , it’s 20 bucks unlimited on Verizon and 15 if you do auto pay …

Note, if you’re on the Do More or Get More Unlimited plan for your phone, you get 50% discount on the iPad plan.

I’ve always had a cellular plan on the iPad since the iPad 3rd gen (2012). It’s really helped with mobile use not having to rely on free wifi or phone hotspot to get internet on the iPad. Plus given the iPad’s massive battery, it makes for a great hotspot for other wifi-only devices.

Another bonus, WiFi calling/NumberSync and SMS forwarding has meant I can get calls and texts to my regular mobile number on the iPad even when I forget my iPhone at home.

I've been using cellular since 2nd generation iPad.. its been the norm for me. But I haven't activated 5g on it.. still using non-5g. It's primarily due to AT&T won't allow me to use their 5G network because I'm not on an unlimited data plan.

Currently under rollover data family plan... and I haven't really felt the urge to upgrade to an unlimited data plan. Eventually I will... but as of now, I'm alright.

Yup! The good ol' iPhone days! Don't have the NumberSync perks for SMS forwarding... but still able to send/receive iMessages anywhere using my email.

I’m in the same boat. I’m on a grandfathered mobile share plan with 55gb of shared data with rollover. I receive an 80% discount on data due to a corporate discount. I’m annoyed the are locking 5G behind their unlimited plans. I pay $78 less per month than I would on an unlimited plan.

Has anyone tired to redeem the apple promo (200 off when activating a new ipad under verizon?)

i’ve been given the runaround by apple and verizon on this and no solution in sight!

Interesting... your corporate discount wouldn’t apply to the new unlimited plan? I have a corporate discount with mine… but 55gb of shared data? That’s pretty good. Mine is only 35gb of shared data with rollover. If I had 55gb of shared data… I wouldn’t switch.

Nope. Our 80% discount wouldn’t apply to the unlimited plans so I’m sticking with my 55gb plan.

I added cellular to mine to get the $200 rebate from T-Mobile that covered adding cellular in case I ever use it. I plan on canceling it once I get my rebate. I get 40GB of 5G tethering included in my T-Mobile plan at no extra cost. Tethering is crazy easy on Apple devices so I struggle to see a valid use case to a dedicated plan for me.

It is very much an individual thing.

Yep, it's complete nonsense in my opinion what Rogers is doing. Please call in and complain, if you haven't done so already. There's nowhere on their website stating 5G access on Infinite plans excludes 5G tablets. They feature tablets in their marketing videos for their 5G network, and sell the 5G iPad Pro on their website. What's really misleading is the Rogers 5G logo they place over the iPad Pro 5G product image on their site, along with the 5G feature callout on the product page. I bought my 2021 iPad Pro with cellular directly from Apple and I'm annoyed that it's not supported on the Rogers 5G network. However, I'd be even more annoyed/upset if I bought it directly from the Rogers website based on their marketing only to find out it wasn't supported on 5G with Rogers.

I’ve started researching Bell since I found out that my iPad Pro 5G wasn’t actually able to access 5G on my Rogers Infinite plan. With Rogers I have their TV, cell phone, two cellular tablets, Apple Watch, home phone, and security. I have to plan out my move so that I can get service for all of that elsewhere. It’s now been two weeks since the iPad Pro launch and still no movement on 5G support for the iPad Pro 5G.
