In May of 2018 I upgraded to an iPhone X from an iPhone 5s. I love the X and recommend it. My problem isn’t with the X though.

My old 5s, after the update to the X, stopped supporting the AV HDMI adapter. The plan was to use the 5s for work presentations so that I would not put extra wear on my X.

- The 5s worked before my upgrade.
- It stopped working around the time I reset the phone to manufacture settings and updated to the latest version of 11.3.?
- The X works with the HDMI the adapter.
- Another 5s device doesn’t work with adapter.
- An Apple Genius said it looks like Apple stopped supporting the AV Adapter for 5s in 11.3.?

Why would Apple stop supporting the AV Adapter (when on the box it says it supported) for the 5s? Why is this not planned obsolescence? Does anyone know how to fix this?
