iPad Pro 5TB external HDD not detected

Hi All

I recently purchased an 11" iPad Pro (M4). I have a Seagate 5TB external HDD (exFAT) and it is not detected on the iPad.

Things I have tried so far:

1. Connected directly to the iPad.
2. Connected to the iPad via a powered USB-C hub.
3. Did a full format (not quick) of the drive (on my Windows machine) (and then tried 1 & 2).
4. There was a small (200Mb) EFI partition on the drive. Deleted it and made a single exFAT partition (and then tried 1 & 2).

Is there anything else I can try ? Or will this not work at all ?

Update: BTW, I need to use the drive with the iPad as well as my Windows machine.
