Today i went to turn on my ipod and it froze. i restarted it by holding down the Menue and select key till i saw the apple symbol. Once it booted back up it said to "connect to itunes and restore" i brought it home and connected it to itunes and itunes didn't recgonize it... so i can't restore it via itunes. When i tried to turn it on, restart it, or or before it shut down completley it began making a rough sound...like something was spinning lose inside.

Any help would be great...Thanks

Okay.
Have you tried Disk Utility?
And if so does it recognize that the iPod is connected?
If so, you may want to try to restore the iPod through it.

Thats only if you have all your music backed up to your computer, and that you are willing to have to re-sync all you music/movies to your iPod.

Disk Utility has saved me multiple times with my 5th Gen 30 gig.

Thanks!

but Disk Utility does not see it...

i got a 30 gig myself...maybe it just died. I only owned it less then 2 years

Thanks for trying to help...

it boots directly to "connect ipod to itunes and restore" makes a bunch of noise like something spinning off track inside and then shuts down...
