iPod 5th gen. nano won't play songs that play perfectly fine in itunes library, help?

i have a 5th generation nano and the most recent version of itunes. i just downloaded a bunch of songs that play fine in my itunes library but when i try to listen to them on my ipod, it immediately skips to another song. only a few of the songs that i synched actually play. i have tried deleting them from my ipod and my itunes library and then adding them back to the library and resynching but i am still having this problem. can anyone tell me what is wrong and what i can do to fix this? thanks for the help.
