I have a 5th generation 80 gig ipod classic that will not play music. I know its not a problem with the headphone jack because in diagnostic mode it produces static in the headphones. Also, when plugging in a 30 pin jack to 3.5 mm jack that also doesn't play music. I have tried restoring and I dont know what else to do. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

Pretty common issue with the 5th gen classics. If you squeeze the bottom right near the clickwheel you should hear music. Some manufacturing defect causes a connection to get dislodged for some reason.

Your choices now are to use it as a hard drive, pay to have it fixed or fix it yourself (good luck,) or sell it as-is.
