I was looking at the new 5G ipod, and was wondering if it was able to sync via firwire. I know that the Nano dosn't. But, I was hoping that apple would support the Mac faithful. I able able to sync via USB 2.0, but would prefer using firewire.

Looks like it only supports USB - but it may well charge over firewire like the nano does.
I had thought that the nano didn't charge overfire wire.

From other posts I think the nano will charge over firewire, but won't update at all. Not 100% though as I don't have a nano to try it with!

Easier to just use USB2.0 now, seems to be the way of the iPods, firewire seems to have returned to camcorder etc use which is a shame.

Yeah, it is sad. Firewire can reach and maintain a higher speed, much better than USB 2.0 ever could. Thanx for the help.

I have a related question ...

I have a 12' Rev A PB, which has a firewire port and USB 1.1 ports. Just wondering if the 5th gen iPod will work with USB 1.1 (what are people's experiences with the Nano and USB 1.1?)? Don't mind if I have to buy the extra power adaptor so long as it transfers.

Are there any firewire hubs out there on the market that provide USB 2 slots? Can only seem to find USB 2 hubs with firewire ports. Also don't have a PC card slot, so there goes that option.

Appreciate any help/advice that anyone can offer.

Thanks
