Recently, quite a few of my purchases I got from iTunes weren't working on my iPod. I sent an email to iTunes, and the person who responded wrote this

This issue you're currently experiencing is actually very common with videos and 5th generation iPods. We believe it might be code-related in some of the files. Please be assured that Apple is currently working as fast as possible to come up with a resolution for this problem. Unfortunately, I'm unable to say exactly when this will be finished.

I'm having a similar problem with my 5G iPod. I have plenty of free space on the thing, but it's not transferring new songs or is transferring them erratically (ie. transfer two from a new album, then a week later one of them is gone, etc.). This is very frustrating, and is beginning to make my iPod worthless if I can't listen to dozens of new albums on it. Glad you posted this though - at least I'm not alone and they're working on a solution.

in that case they ought to provide you with classics rather than have paying customers paralyzed in such a manner.. how dare they?
