Why is Apple Only Offering 5X Optical Zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Thought this would be a good discussion before the tear downs were completed. Even though Apple is starting with 256GB on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it looks like a $100 premium has been added to the cost.
 
I feel it really is a space constraint. Apple kind of screwed themselves with MagSafe being so big. You can only make the camera modules so big without intruding on space needed for MagSafe accessories.

Not really, iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB was the same price, they just had a 128GB model last year on the Pro Max that they don't offer this year.

I assume it's because of the size needed to make it happen, but it is disappointing. Money aside, I would like the 5x optical zoom but I don't think I would like the bigger phone. I'd almost rather pay the extra money for the best available camera package but keep the regular Pro size.
