Hello,
I have some cuestions related to the firmware updates.
Running 10.9 and like to keep it. I have no extra orig-Apple SSD with 10.14. to update.
10.14 is on an external HD, but as we know, booting that does not update FW.

Is it possible to update, when taking the FW-updater package out of a 10.14 system update
and run it manually?

What does the new Firmware, could that end in conflicts between FW and old System?

Finally, an orig-Apple SSD in an external USB enclosure (10.14), would that do the trick?

Thank you and happy weekend...

You can install the firmware manually, but still needs the original Apple SDD present.

No, needs to be installed into the M.2 connector of the GPU.

Greetings to Brazil and thank you for reply!
Will try. I have only 10.9 on my M2.
Idea was to get the FW update pkg from the 10.14.3_Combo update and let it run manually.
I don't know if this works.
10.9 cannot open a newer DMG images. 10.14 is on a slow USB2 Flash and for now I was not successful.
I need to prepare a better working situation. Do you mean distract the FW pkg is all I need to do?
Or is necessary to make a new installer setup?

Manually executing efi2flasher don't bypass the need of the original SSD present into the M2 socket.

Clone your 10.9 install to another drive, than install 10.14, you will have a lot less headache. After that you clone back your 10.9 to the original SSD.

You're right. The easiest and securest way.
I thought it would be like in the good old times.
Thanks again!
