6+. Gone back to 8.4.1 and it is heaven

I really could not get on with 9.0GM it was so laggy and unresponsive for me, spotlight would stutter, multi tasking would stutter, apps would take a second to load and my battery life didn't even seem as great even in low power mode. 9.1 improved performance a lot but stutter still remained especially in the multi tasking window unless i turned off transparency and I even had a few bugs such as apple pay opening up randomly, even while walking outside and the phone is locked.

Gone back to 8.4.1 and it honestly feels like a different phone, everything is so responsive, lag free and feels like an expensive device again. iOS 9 to me just feels like my phone is years old and Apple is nudging me to upgrade to their new product with the "60% faster" processing speeds.

I prey that iOS 9 will become like 8.1.4 after a few patches, but until then I just cannot make the leap and will stay on 8.4.1 for the foreseeable future. If anyone is having any troubles similar to mine I simply recommend you do the same, hopefully Apple will catch onto the low adoption rate of 6 plus owners and below (if lower phones are having trouble, I don't think as much) and they might focus a bit more on performance in future incremental updates and our phones will feel snappy again. Fingers crossed : )

I've done several clean restores of 8.4.1 and it always starts off super smooth but starts to lag after settling in, especially the animation of exiting to the home screen. Of course, not everyone can see it, but it's there.

It sounds like perhaps you are downloading a few too many apps and have them all running in the background? Or you're just running apps that just aren't that well optimised perhaps.

I have very few apps on my phone and it has been running smoothly since I updated to 8.4.1 when that update first became available. The only storage hog on my phone is music and photos.

I have a 64GB phone, downloading too many apps shouldn't be an issue.

I too have a 64GB and I agree with you, I am just trying to figure out why I don't experience this stutter you're referring to that's all.

I'm pretty sure it's a vocal minority that has issues with iOS 9 GM, the majority is enjoying and not complaining.

Nothing new here. Just another normal day on the Internet.

Majority in what sense? Out of the few who post? Factoring in the reality that most that don't have issues generally don't feel the need to post about that?

I installed iOS 9 on my 6+. Is there lag? Yes. Worse than iOS 8.4.1? No.

Try reset all settings, that fixed a lot of things for me.

For most sophisticated apps that use iOS 8 APIs, yes.

And given that iOS 9 works on all iOS 8 compatible devices, such requirement wouldn't take long this year

9.1 is indeed noticeably better. I actually think that the 9.0 GM is a much older build, even though it was released recently. They might have stopped working actively on it and started focussing on 9.1 instead, which would explain why the GM doesn’t run that much better compared to earlier builds.

Well, sure. They had to have it done weeks ago to have time to put it on the shipping 6S models.

Do we think the iPhone 6 plus will feel fast again? I am not talking about responsiveness, I am referring to stutters mainly.

App switch is awful unless you disable transparency, where as it is like butter on iOS 8. I just don't want apple to purposely cripple older hardware to encourage 6s adopters, I want every phone to feel fast.

iPhone 6 plus is using the same processor as in the iPad Air and that feels fluid even at twice the resolution, so I know it's possible
