1. Battery is already jacked up. Just this morning playing a podcast with screen off I lost 30% in 30 minutes.

2. Had to delete all my audiobooks because one audiobook I converted into zip file and transferred by WiFi to phone was corrupted and the mp3 audiobook app would crash when it tried to automatically load it because it was the last file that it tried to open last .... and since all files are linked to app, I had to delete app to reset it and thus, deleted all audiobooks linked to it. By the way, the insanity i went through to just transfer mp3 files to my phone to play as audiobooks was so elaborate and convoluted to begin with ... i do not feel like going through the process again to retransfer my audiobooks i lost. First i have to zip ... then i have to transfer over wifi (do not have a “normal computer”, only tablets), then once i get the file on my phone through that transfer on send anywhere app , i then have to import (copy) that file into the app (even though the file is already on my phone), then delete the original file in send anywhere app. Really?

3. Phone must be kept with screen on and app in foreground while downloading things in most apps. This is ridiculous. Audible, Documents6 both stop. Yes, I have background setting on and no, I don’t care if it’s the app developers fault or Apples fault ... I just want to download something and be able to put my phone in my pocket or do other things on my phone while its downloading.

4. Lightening jack is already loose.

5. Fingerprint sensor works only 50% of time, although now that its getting into winter, its working more because of less sweat on finger.

6. Trying to change cursor location on screen is an insane hassle.

7. Input fields, such as my train/bus card 16 digit number, is not saved in browsers even when i click save. This worked fine on my android phones without any tweaking or hassle.

8. After long periods of Bluetooth listening, it disconnects and its a hassle to get it to reconnect. Sometimes i have to reset my headphones and the phone to get it to reconnect.

9. Storage space gets missing requiring resets to regain in a lot of cases.

10. Horrible implementation of control panel slide up or whatever it is called where long press does not bring up settings for things like wifi.

11. Creating contacts is a hassle for past phone calls made or received.

12. Downloading status gets jacked up on a lot of apps which leads me to believe it is an iOS thing. Podcasts apps suffer from this occasionally, and iTunes is horrible especially on big downloads where it looks like it has stopped but it hasn’t.

13. I was not notified of a 100mb download limit when i purchased my IPhone. Packaging should notify the customer of this BS, archaic limitation. Some people use their phone lte as their main internet.

14. Still no real file system even after Files App.

15. Settings sub menus are ridiculously complex and unintuitive. Try figuring out how to cancel a subscription to an app without google.

16. Location services are being activated even when airplane mode is activated.

Easy to fix, go back to android

In Some ways, you're correct. You have to get away from the current platform if you have a lot of general concerns or issues to appreciate what you really liked from iOS. And I see a lot of individuals who migrate to android and come back to iOS within less than two months.

I just figure life is too short to use fuss over something like a phone. It’s something you use everyday so you may as well be happy with the experience

So you would like iOS to stay the same and not improve?
I have absolutely no complaints with iOS, others might. Both my devices are very stable and reliable and do everything I expect them to. iOS isn’t going to change just because some people want it to. It is what it is, if it doesn’t work for an individual, they should opt out.

Honest question... do you not expect your iOS device to be able to download a file in the background without stopping when you turn screen off or do something else on your phone?

You're response is Not really relevant . Because the user doesn't always have control over what happens with iOS or not. That's why you see some long-term iOS users go to android, because they're fatigued of the stagnancy or intermittent issues that are not fixed.

iOS suits me perfectly fine, but for others, it does not.

Personally I expect it to be suspended on or before 10 minutes, because that’s how it works.

Give me an example. Not sure I’m understanding your issue correctly.. By the way, I’m not saying your complaints aren’t justified, like I said everyone’s expectations and experiences are different

For 6, which method are you using? You have the most obvious tap to move the cursor, then you have the long press on text allowing you to use the magnifying glass to adjust the cursor, certain keyboards allow you to use keys to move the cursor, and finally on 3D Touch iPhones you can force touch the keyboard and slide your finger to move the cursor.

I had to laugh when I read the post. I almost had the exact same experience when I moved to iOS from Android. Before having an iPhone, I always imagined iOS to be this intuitive and polished OS, you know „it just works“. I was a little shocked how complicated everything turned out to be and how limited you are with iOS.

But you will get used to it :)

Came back to iOS last summer after a 7 year break, and I do not experience a lot of your stated issues, tbh. Android is a good OS which has drawbacks, same with iOS and even Windows Mobile or whatever it's called nowadays.

Regarding your issues with it, here's my experience:

1. Try do to a soft reset/reinstall using iTunes. I've had major issues with various Android devices similar to this one but none with my current iPhone.

2. N/A

3. I download a lot of albums from Apple Music for when I go into areas with scarce network coverage, and podcasts. No issues here.

4. Solid as a brick ever since day one.

5. Try to input your main Touch ID twice, maybe it will get more accurate. Also, I didn't had the need to do that, it works just like 6 months ago.

6. If you have a 3D Touch iPhone, you'll be surprised how easy it actually is.

7. Maybe try to enable iCloud keychain? No issues with it on my part.

8. N/A, I only use wired headphones.

9. This is a weird one. Ever since Apple updated it's video and image formats, my 32GB device seems more "spacious", if I can say so. I do not even feel the need to upgrade anymore.

10. Yes, I call this one fair and I would love to see a feature like that implemented.

11. I find the process on Android even worse, and I agree, iOS could do better, but it's good enough for me.

12. Idem #3.

13. Wait, what? Never heard of this.

14. Agree. I would like to be able to access a local file explorer.

15. True.

16. Never noticed this. Might have to look deeper into this, but in the meantime, check your privacy settings, under location, and see which apps have location set as "only when using".

The OP is referring to App Store’s app size download limit over cellular networks. It used to be 50 MB, then in iOS 10 it went up to 100 MB and in iOS 11 it’s now 150 MB.

The limit does not apply to any other downloads and can be worked around by creating a WiFi network from a cellular device, to which the iOS device connects (the limit does not apply on WiFi).

You dont know the name of Control Centre and call it “control panel slide up or whatever it is called”, yet complain there is no real file system LOL you seem to know a lot considering you dont know the basics...

Here is a list of my own

1. You must be throwing and thrashing your iphone around to have caused around half of your ‘issues’ since some of them have never been reported on here before, and we have been keeping iphones for a lot longer than 6 months..

2. Due to dot point 1, please do not get an iPhone again. There is people in the world who get joy out of the things that are RIGHT about the iPhone rather than blatantly slamming it online. Go back to Android or your Nokia 3315 and call it a day.

3. If your iPhone indeed is causing you this many issues - why havent you gone to Apple with this? They would replace your phone on the battery issue itself. Instead you are complaining on here expecting us to wave our Macrumors wand and fix the ‘Complaints list’ for you.. or feel sorry or what not.

4. Jeez

:apple:

In 10 years of owning an iOS device. I have never had to download a file besides from iCloud, iTunes or App Store none of which experience your “problem”.

I would like android to improve also, but how is this germane to the topic?

Op has a mixture of hardware and software issues. Op didn’t ask for assistance op is posting gripes.

Someone is having issues and a fellow forum member says, "Easy to fix, go back to android". How does that help the topic thread creator? Telling him to switch to android doesn't fix the iOS issues he has.

Perhaps you should tell the people with the Dec 2nd bug to switch to Android. For sure those people with camera focusing issues with ios11.2 should definitely switch to Android, eh?

The guy bought an iPhone, he is an iOS user. Not some pro Android fan. Why are iOS users so hostile to each other?

OP didn't even say what iPhone or whether is new or used or even what version of IOS. He still didn't ask for help, nor what the expected outcome of the rant. The hostility, imo, stems from what the expected outcome of the post should be. Does that answer the question you posed?

I agree with the general sentiment of your post, but then again, there are ways to voice ones opinion that may come across as more... Amiable? Especially when seeking answers to questions or just general tips to get acclimated to a new OS. People tend to respond in a less than favorable way to others just rattling of things they don't like without adding any more substance to their posts.

We cant fix the vast majority of those issues. It is obvious OP is posting to vent, not to get assistance. If he wanted assistance he would have been at the Apple store

One of my biggest gripes with iOS is this one exactly. I use Documents6 to download stuff from the web but need to keep the screen on and app opened otherwise the download will fail lol
