I’ve loved my 11” iPad Pro M4 since launch. Used it every day.

Last week I upgraded my iPhone 14 to a 16 Pro.

I’d lost a bit of love for the cheap-feeling 14.

And now, after using the 16 Pro for a week, I can’t get over how nice it feels in my hand.

So I go back to my iPad Pro and… urgh. Oh no, it feels so sharp and cheaper in quality! I don’t enjoy it as much, all of a sudden.

That’s what the new 16 Pro has done. With its curved, smooth edges, and ‘rubbery’ sides (not literally I know), when I go back to my iPad, I have less desire to use that.

Has this happened to anyone else? I thought the Pro felt awesome for so long but with the difference in design on 16 Pro, I feel like Apple have possibly inadvertently put me off my cheaper feeling iPad.

OP I'm in the same boat. Grab the Magic Keyboard case for the M4 it's a game changer for iPad. I don't think I would even want to own one without it now. It's the perfect halfway laptop, and it keeps getting closer every year.

With the magic keyboard I can truly begin to see Apple's vision for the evolution of desktop interfaces. Basically you use apps on the iPad where instead you would use websites on the Mac.

Please explain how you are in the same boat as the OP who’s not using the iPad with joy anymore.

I really love my iPP M4 as well, but I cant help feeling that if it had a Titanium frame like my 15 Pro it would look/feel that bit more premium. The aluminium chassis on the iPP M4 is essentially the same as my iPad Air 4!

Well, I own 11” M4 iPad Pro, I upgraded to a iPhone 16 Pro from iPhone 14 series, love the feel of the 16 Pro, got over the feel of the 14, and also don’t love the feeling of the iPad Pro M4 in the hand, which is why I recommended the Magic Keyboard case.

I'm down for a Titanium iPad Pro as well, It'll look and feel nice.

But I think that Titanium material would increase the price of the iPad Pro, and almost no one wants that. They should have that as an premium option. Just like the Apple Watches, we can have an aluminum and titanium option for the iPads.

Yes and come to think of it the new MKB should be in Titanium as well to match. I would pay an extra £50 for it for sure, but others probably wont as they quite rightly already find the new MKB to be overpriced.

The iPhone only uses a tiny thin titanium frame that’s fused with an aluminum frame.
For an iPad, the sides and back are one piece of aluminum, so either they would have to start using separate metals on the sides and the back, start using a titanium/aluminum frame with a glass back, or make the entire sides and back out of titanium.
Either way, not only would it be a dramatic price increase, but it will also be a dramatic weight increase because titanium and glass are both heavier than aluminum.

And once again you’re talking about a dramatic price increase, not £50.
And a dramatic weight increase.

Because again, the iPhone only uses a small amount of titanium on the outer edges.

And wasn’t this place flooded last year with a bunch of complaints that the titanium iPhones were technically less durable than the stainless steel and aluminum ones, and that titanium is worse for heat conduction?

Ah that stinks. Totally forgot that Titanium on the iPhones are only on the outside. Titanium may not work well with iPads then.

In my head, Titanium made me think of Steve Jobs saying how its "stronger than aluminum, lighter than steel". I didn't stop to think that its still heavier than aluminum lol.

That is called “a new shiny toy”, “new kid on the block”, “only one body and a pair of hands/eyes”.

All macs, ipads, iPhones do almost the same thing when it comes to browsing and youtube. People just tend to stick to the last device used because we can’t use it all at the same time and then it forms habits.

For this reason I don’t hold all new items at once and update gradually only if i know the use case is justified. If i had all latest mac, iPhone and ipad, I would not know which one to use.

The years when on ipad, i like to keep my iPhone simple, so I don’t have the urge to abandon new ipad for even newer iPhone.
