Hi!

I searched in the forum but found only answers concerning the 6TB version WD 64 mb.
I am planning to buy this from ebay, but I am not sure it will physically fit the mac pro 4,1 I have.

Could someone confirm that this can go in the mac pro with ORIGINAL sleds?

Thanx!!

The front holes will align, might have to remove the rear. I’m running an 8TB, it’s stable enough with the front 2 screws.

Intrigued, I thought the mounting holes and connector size/locations were pretty much standardised on 3 1/2" drives?

This is the back of the disk; the seller sent me a pic but I am still not sure if it will fit because I see 6 holes and am not sure the middle ones fit the sled of teh mac pro... Jesus what stupidity to make different holes
As I said, the front holes will line up, the rear screws on the sled will hit roughly between the rear set of holes. The drive will work once stabilized by the SATA connection. Unless you will be regularly removing it, it will be fine.

Ok, so you confirm that your disk 8tb has also the same 6 holes?
Because the other 6tb WD I have seen (they are 64 mb cache), have ONLY 4 holes and fit perfectly the mac pro sleds...

My 8TB Seagate Archive drive has 6 holes, but only 2 line up with the Mac Pro sled. I used the two holes closest to the SATA port and removed the rear 2 screws. Once inserted, it fits flush and is stable.
