A 120Hz smartphone display is nice to have, but do we need it?o_O

I am not a game lover. I have an iPhone 11 with 82% battery health.

Do I really need to upgrade to iPhone 13 Pro, or iPhone 13? I think I can't wait for iPhone 14.

If the iPhone 13 OLED screen continues to flicker with PWM like every OLED iPhone since the X, 120hz promotion screen refresh is lipstick on a pig

Lets see how Apple market Pro motion on the Pro Iphones this afternoon. They will probably use all their glittery words like ‘its magical’ etc, and most people who are in 2 minds whether to get the regular or pro iphones will jump on board.

I have it on my Samsung S21 Ultra and I really don’t see the craze for it. I turn it off because I’d rather have the battery last longer. I might feel differently if I did a lot of gaming on my Samsung. I used to, but I prefer playing games on my Switch. I play simple puzzle games on phones and those don’t need fast refresh rates.

But everyone’s vision is different so i believe people when they say it means a lot to them. It just doesn’t, for me.

Scrolling has always bugged my eyes because of slow 60hz refresh rate. It looks like a jittery strobe light to me whenever I move anything./. I hate it.
120hz refresh would be a blessing for me.

Yes it is worth it. I've owned a couple Android phones that have it. Difference is awesome and definitely worth the upgrade.

I briefly had the note ultra that came out last yr and to me I could notice a difference. It felt like night and day with some websites, but at the end of it all it’s not a deal breaker.

120hz matters more on bigger screens like tablets where the content travels like 10” in a second as you swipe or watch stuff. On a phone it jumps only a few inches and is far less obvious in my experience.
