63 degrees

This thing is uncomfortable to hold in my lap. I see temperatures of 55-60 regularly. Thats in an air conditioned room.

I have read that it could be a improper thermal grease placement.... Has anyone had this problem as well? What did you do to fix it?

I haven't had thermal problems on mine for the 3 1/2 months that I've owned it. I did install Cookook and replaced the thermal grease but I have not noticed a change in performance. But then, I never had a problem to begin with.

What are you running to produce the temps that you mention?

Just saw 64 degrees hold for a few minutes. too hot right? istat says fan spins differently... between 2500-5500 is what I've seen. Does this all sound right?

that is NOT a hot temperature. I'm running at 70 deg C w/ 2800 rpm fans right now.

four tabs open in firefox, mail open, messenger:mac open, journler open, itunes open, stickies open. Watched a 5 minute youtube video about 25 minutes ago.

Is this normal?

Normal as in happening to a lot of people. Should it happen? Heck no.
Have you had any screen/mouse freezing?

I somethimes get 79degrees celsius with my mbp, but that's the highest. Also, on battery it runs way cooler, than on a plug.

This tests never showed a loss of either processor but I had the CPU temps up to as high as 82 (using CPU test). That test runs the CPU hard. The video is a good test and I think it shows if you have a temp problem.

Prior to replacing the thermal paste I would lose a processor. I would say that unless you feel comfortable opening your Air you might want to take it back to Apple for them to address. Your temps don't seem that high.

Also note that the fans are not tied to the CPU temp but the Base temps.

I don't think it's outright froze, but incredible lag, like when switching between spaces I have the time to go to the kitchen and get a drink and come back before it finally moves. Pinwheels a lot too... especially when opening more than 2 tabs at once in firefox. Any chance this could be fixed by being brought into the store?
