HI,
I am new to this forum :) But it seamed like a good place to ask my question :)

So here's my question. Will a GTX 660M work in a mid 2011 IMAC 27"?
The 6970M burned up, and i don't really want to spend money on a card that is going to break again. I saw this article (https://www.ifixit.com/Story/18646/Successful_iMac_Upgrade_to_GTX_880M) were a guy put an 880M in but i don't need that much power (or heat). A 660M would be plenty for my needs.
I found this one on Ebay, and before i spend $100 it would be good to have at least an idea if it will work.
Boot screen is not important (it would be nice though), brightness control is also not important, as long as i can see the screen.

So the guy in the story I linked was using a GTX 880M out of a allienware. Is there any reason why a Quadro 880M out of a dell would not work? I found this one for $17

That is an FX880M. You would need a GTX880M. Different chips etc and the FX is much slower, which is why the price is negligible. The FX880M is around the level of a GeForce GT330M.
