Hi all,

Bought a new 20" iMac a few weeks ago and on the day I bought it I also bought 4GB memory from Crucial. Only when I was installing it did I notice that the iMac manual instructs to use 800MHz memory, when the new memory I have is 667MHz. I put it in anyway and the iMac works OK.

Can anyone advise whether this is OK ? ie. Will I notice any significant performance hit assuming I don't do anything that intensive, or are there any other implications of installing the slower memory that I should consider ?

Thanks,

Steve

You should have absolutely no problem, assuming it's DDR2 RAM. You'll only have slightly reduced performance.

What do I mean "slightly reduced performance"? It'll benchmark a little worse but it'll probably still seem just as fast as 800MHz RAM would.
