Hi there.

With the refresh of the iMacs, we saw ram speeds increase to 1333MHz from 1066MHz.

I have some 1066MHz ram (2x 1gb), and if I put it in to the latest gen 1333Mhz machine, it would down clock the rest of the ram to 1066Mhz.

My question is, it it better to have 6GB of DDR3 1066MHz OR 4GB of DDR3 1333MHz??

My main uses would be for web surfing, some gaming in Windows (64bit), Word processing and the occasional Photoshop.

TIA.

...RAM will clock down...

If you buy the 4Gb of the newer RAM, benchmark it both ways to see what works best... its really going to depend on if you get close to using all of the 4Gb to begin with...

I doubt you're going to all 6GB so I would stick with 4GB though I also doubt that you would notice much difference between the RAM speed as the only thing it does is that it increases the memory bandwidth but most apps cannot take advantage of it
