Hi!

I'd like to check compatability of 6Tb Seagate Barracuda Compute 3.5" Internal HDD 5400RPM drives with Mac Pro 5,1 on Mojave 10.14.6. These are standard edition NOT Pro edition.

Does anyone have experience of these drives used internally via SATA connection in 2009 Mac Pro 5,1?

I tried to use these drives in my old Drobo 4Bay Gen 3 (USB 3) and they are not compatible as they are SMR drives.

They did take a few minutes to format in Disk Utilities - but they have installed and seem to work ok.

How will i know if they are compatible or not?

Sadly couldn't afford the Pro edition as they are twice the price and i just used the drives for storage. All major work is done on my Hard Drive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just checked with Seagate Online Tech Support and apparently they should be fine ... But wonder if anyone else has proven experience with these cheaper drives?
