Guys, if you backup to iCloud while on 7.1, and then try and restore to 7.0.4 using that iCloud backup, you won't be able to; you'll have to set it up as a new iPhone, or go back to 7.1. This was disheartening to me since now I basically have to stay on 7.1 since I don't have my 7.0.4 backup anymore (iCloud only saves the latest one).

Its been like that for over a year now.
Newer ios version backups cannot be restore to phones running an older version.
Thanks Apple:rolleyes:

Seriously?? Well damn, that pretty much prevents me from dabbling in betas anymore.

If you change your phones name before you do a backup with the new ios then the new ios 7 backup is created under a different name so the old one for ios 7.0.4 is still saved there and not overwritten by the new one.
Example Johns iphone change it to Johhnys iphone or something.
Or you can copy and save your old backup on another location on your computer before you update it and it gets overwritten to the newest ios version backup.
But in your case now its too late. Just so you know for next time.

You can back it up to your computer and change the version plist to 7.0.4 and restore from backup that way

That method generally works if you're on the same big iOS version (E.g. 7.0.4 to 7.0.2) but no guarantees everything will transfer properly

Great! Do you have any instructions on how to change the plist on a backup file on a computer?

Yep iCloud will not let you do that, you can only work around it if u have a backup on your computer.

Quick easy step>go to set up as new iphone >Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings general iPhone software update update take about 10min then restart and restore from latest back up with the latest ios7.1.1

That doesn't work on a jailbroken device

Thanks for telling people how to update to the latest iOS version.
